Bengali Association of Nebraska
A Message from the President
Namaskar,
Welcome to the Bengali Association of Nebraska (BANE) website. This site has been revised for the convenience of our members and any future members. The website looks stunning beautiful. The website depicts the goals of the BANE, and various activities that it is involved. The primary objective of BANE is to promote the bengali culture and pride that we bengalis share in Nebraska and neighboring states. All of us have adopted our new homeland, but we dearly miss our rich bengali culture. The BANE was created with the goal of filling that vacuum, and recreate our cultural environment as close to our birthplace. BANE encourages its members to come forward with their talents, may it be singing, recitation or cooking, and enrich our minds. It is the only way this rich culture can be passed to the next generations who perhaps never have had the opportunity to know the feelings. Every society has its limitations. I encourage everyone to find the positives, and build a stronger society. Whereas we welcome constructive criticisms, we also believe that criticisms without realistic solutions are empty and contribute very little towards improvements.
We will be celebrating our most coveted Durga Puja in the
month of October. As the president of the association, I can
proudly say that BANE has recreated the puja feelings very
well in Omaha and beyond. Members living away from Omaha
look forward to this time. My sincere gratitude to all
members, and special thanks to the members of the Executive
Committee, for their continuous support to make this society
a contributing member in the community. I wish all members
and their families good life and best wishes.
With best regards,
Shyamal K. Roy, Ph. D.
President
